An Inclusive Economy

Our team developed an Inclusive Economic Development Plan in Johnson County, Iowa. This plan highlights the opportunities and barriers experienced by Underestimated Community Members* when starting and/or running a business.

This work wouldn't be possible without the generous support of the Iowa City Area Development Group, GreenState Credit Union, and the Multicultural Development Center of Iowa. Thank you to the Iowa City Area Business Partnership for their ongoing collaboration with our team and thank you to Hills Bank for generously sponsoring the Strategic Doing Session affiliated with this project.

*Underestimated Community Members are people who have been historically underrepresented and under-resourced within communities. These community members may include Black, Latine, Indigenous, Asian-American, Immigrant, LGBTQ+, Women, Youth, Formerly Incarcerated/Returning Citizens, and People with Disabilities. This is not an exhaustive list.

Thank you for all of your time and support! We are endlessly appreciative of all the effort the Johnson County Community has invested in this project.

We are honored to learn from the experiences and stories community members shared. We are excited to present the findings and are looking forward to the community-driven actions this plan can spark.
